January 14, 1938 – October 22, 2026
With heartfelt sorrow, the family of Jacqueline Patricia (Pat) Wilson (nee Evans) of Lorneville, announce her passing on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Pat was born and raised in Lorneville, where she spent her life and raised her own family alongside her husband, Larry, in the beloved “House That Jack Built” – the home her father built when she was just 12 years old. It was a home filled with memories, generations of love, and a lifetime of family. Pat was born to Jack (John) and Lottie (Boyd) Evans on January 14, 1938 and she was the eldest sibling to brother Jack and sister Terry.
Pat attended Lorneville School until Grade 10 and then she attended Saint John High School, where she graduated in 1955. She then went on to the Saint John General School of Nursing, where she discovered her true calling: caring for others. Pat dedicated 40 years of her life to nursing, beginning her career in labour and delivery at the Saint John General Hospital and later continuing at the Saint John Regional Hospital when it opened. She became the charge nurse on the post-partum unit, a role she held until the end of her remarkable career.
For Pat, nursing was never just a job; it was her calling. She was always willing to answer the call of someone in need of comfort, compassion, or a gentle hand to hold. Whether welcoming a new life into the world or offering comfort to someone nearing the end of theirs, Pat cared for each person with kindness and grace. Her gift was not only in the care she provided, but in the comfort she brought to those who needed it most. If you were lucky enough to know our Mom, chances are you came away from a conversation with her feeling better. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel loved, valued and special. She always saw the goodness in people.
On July 1, 1961, Pat married her true love, Lawrence Wilson, at Lorneville United Church, where she was a life-long and devoted member. For 40 years she and Larry raised a family, travelled to Ontario and Eastern U.S. each summer, visited Scotland and started annual retirement trips to Florida until Larry’s unexpected passing in 2001. Pat continued with her love of travel with her close friends as she explored the Caribbean, travelled through Europe, and cruised around Asia. Her favourite of all places was Prague. She loved listening to Neil Diamond, Ann Murray and John Denver and always enjoyed listening to and singing church hymns. Pat was a beloved mother to Lori, John, Janet, and Lindsay. She adored her role as Nana as she was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Mathieu, Drew and Emily Gaudet, Katherine and Caroline Lorette, Charlotte and Luc Savoie and Eamonn Wilson. She treasured every moment with each of them. Nana’s heart broke into a million pieces when she lost her precious granddaughter Caroline in 2014.
Pat is survived by her 4 children: daughter Lori (John Gaudet), son John, daughter Janet (David Lorette) and daughter Lindsay (Derrick McQuade), her grandchildren: Mathieu (Terri-Lynn), Drew (Karina), Emily (Brody), Katherine (Sam), Caroline, Charlotte, Luc, and Eamonn and great-grandchildren: Jack, Ryder, Gordon, Murphie and Nathan. She is also survived by her brother Jack Evans (Barb) and his children, Stephen and Tina and families, and sister Terry Glenn (Todd) and their children Ryan and Emily and families. Pat was predeceased by her parents Jack and Lottie Evans, infant brother Calvin Evans, husband Larry Wilson, granddaughter Caroline Lorette, sister-in-law Marilyn Evans, and special cousin Bette Parks.
We would like to thank Dr. Alison Rodger and Dr. Keith Wilson for your care of our Mom. A very special thank you to the wonderful staff of Birch House, whose kindness, support, and genuine concern for Mom and our family helped carry us through some of our darkest hours.
