Saint John’s mayor is staying put at the helm of the council horseshoe.
Don Darling plans to stay on as the mayor of the city instead of running for the provincial Liberals for the September election, saying in a web post that he will continue to fight hard to make sure Saint John gets loud, gets heard and is treated fairly.
Darling had been considering running after being approached by the New Brunswick Liberal Association about running in the Saint John Lancaster riding, currently held by PC MLA Dorothy Shephard.
“I would like to thank the Liberal Party for their confidence and invitation to join them in serving the people of New Brunswick,” the post reads. “I must remain focused on my priorities: more people, jobs and growing the taxbase for Saint Johnners.”
