Dube Calls Her Last Day In The Legislature “Emotional”

After almost 20 years, PC MLA Madeleine Dube or “Mado” as she is known by her colleagues and others is retiring from politics.

Under the Alward and Lord governments, Dube served in many cabinet posts including as Education Minister and Heath Minister.

She tells CHSJ News her last day in the Legislature on Friday was quite emotional but she is very proud of the community projects in her riding of Edmundston-Madawaska.

“Because I really truly believe when I look at my region it’s a transformation totally in twenty years in terms of investment but I am proud as well of the many policy changes we have made over the years” Dube said.

Dube says the Department of Education is huge and we have a lot of schools in New Brunswick.

“I was always teasing the Minister of Finance when I wanted more money because just to change lightbulbs in schools you are way over millions of dollars” She says.

Fellow PC MLA Dorothy Shephard describes Dube as a wonderful, supportive colleague who loves to laugh and often injected humour into the situation when they have collaborated.
