Health Canada Warns Of EpiPen Shortage For August

Health Canada is issuing a warning that supplies of the 0.3 milligram EpiPen are expected to be very limited during the month of August.

Pfizer Canada says while some pharmacies may have inventory on hand, it’s likely to be depleted in the coming days or weeks and they do not expect to have new supply available until the end of August.

The company says the current shortage is the result of a manufacturing issue.

Meanwhile, they have a limited supply of the 0.15 milligram EpiPen Junior, which is being managed carefully at the national level.

Health Canada is reminding the public EpiPen products expire at the end of the month listed on the package.

In light of the shortage, if you’re having an anaphylactic reaction and all you have on hand is an expired EpiPen, it is better than nothing, but you should still seek medical help at the nearest hospital.
