Big Plans In Works To Dramatically Increase Business At The Port

There’s concern over what’s been happening with the local economy with the latest blow being the announcement by Moosehead not to proceed with the small batch brewery along the waterfront.

Port President and C-E-O Jim Quinn says the multi-year project to modernise the port will be a driver for economic growth locally once it gets into high gear and big plans are in the works by the new port operator to establish a global footprint.

Quinn says the goal is to increase business at the port as much as fourfold.

Quinn concedes the decision of Tropical Shipping to leave Saint John for Halifax was not expected either by the port nor by New Brunswick based cargo.
