It’s not new but the Premier still held a news conference in Fredericton to talke about the spring increase in the minimum wage.
The hourly rate goes up 35 cents on April 1st to $11 dollars an hour.
Premier Gallant says his government understands that putting more money into the pockets of New Brunswickers means they will buy and invest more which strengthens the economy.
Not everyone is excited about it.
On Twitter, Kevin Lacey of the Canadian Taxpayer’s Federation says unpredictable year over year increases in the minimum wage are a job killer
He adds small businesses are suffering from high taxes and cumbersome regulations.
It’s the third increase in the minimum wage since December 2014.
