A window at the Arby’s fast food restaurant on Rothesay Avenue has been smashed out and the exterior badly dented after a vehicle hit the building.
Sergeant Dean Secord of city police says the driver had gone into Fairweather Tire’s parking lot and his foot was on the gas instead of the brake and hit a patch of ice and came up over a snowbank.
“There’s a little bit of a bank and the height of the building to where the fender landed, he’d have to be up in the air some,” Secord tells CHSJ News.

The driver was taken to the Regional Hospital for observation.
“With a crash of this magnitude we just want to make sure that he’s fine and he didn’t suffer a concussion.”
Secord says the investigation will continue to make sure the vehicle was fit.
The manager of the Arby’s Darryl Baxter says the store remains open. They plan to close off the front of the store and seal the hole. This comes just months after a renovation was finished.
