An Update On Snow Removal From Mayor, Fire Chief, and Transportation Services

An snow clearing update from Mayor Mel Norton, Fire Chief Kevin Clifford, and Tim O’Reilly of Transportation Services.

Norton says the contractors and city crews are getting on top of snow removal even with more snow on the way – and extended a warm thank you to JDI and numerous contractors who have assisted with crews and equipment.

Fire Chief Kevin Clifford says until the on-street parking ban is lifted, you have to use the designated lots: no exceptions. Even if an area looks like it’s been cleared sufficiently for you to park your car there, unless the street has been listed as back in commission, you could be towed.

We asked Tim O’Reilly how much this is all going to cost us – and the short answer is, we don’t know. He says that for now the focus will be on getting the job done, than updating council on the budget at the appropriate time.

The Southern Peninsula remains in a state of local emergency as crews work to clear the streets.
