McGraw Says Some Of Gas Tax Fund Should Go To Transit

With the news that common council has approved $9 million to improve roads and sidewalks in the city and another $9 million for water and sewers from its portion of the 2014 2018 Gas Tax Fund, Tom McGraw of the Amalgamated Transit Union tells CHSJ News transit could use about $1.7 million to bring our bus system up to speed.

McGraw says it’s a case of the squeaky wheel hoping to get some grease.

The total amount of the Gas Tax Fund is over $225 dollars.

McGraw says Moncton is $2 million ahead of Saint John with a bus fleet of similar size, which is concerning.
