Provincial Finance Minister Roger Melanson telling the Legislature the Liberal government’s first spring budget will be rolled out on March 31st.
He promises the budget will include measures to tackle the provincial deficit which is running at around 400 million dollars a year with the debt expected to increase by around 377 million dollars. Melanson calls that state of affairs to be unsustainable and is promising measures to tackle it.
Saint John Lancaster M-L-A Dorothy Shepherd calls getting rid of the Department of Healthy and Inclusive Communities “shortsighted”. She claims you save 5 dollars for every dollar spent on preventing people from getting sick in the first place.
