It was a busy weekend for Saint John police who made an arrest after the windows of a vehicle were smashed out with a crowbar in what looks to be a case of road rage.
At 10:30 pm Saturday officers met with the 52-year-old victim who said he was driving on Loch Lomond Road when he noticed a vehicle behind him trying to pass. He then turned into a parking lot to let the car pass, the car followed him and that’s when the man smashed out the passenger window and broke a windshield.
Officers arrested a 21-year-old man an hour later in this case.
In another, separate case, an on-foot police pursuit in the uptown this weekend came to an abrupt end.
Saint John police say members were patrolling the uptown on Friday afternoon when they saw a man assaulting another at the intersection of Sydney and Union Streets.
One officer tried catching the suspect but he took off running — as he was running he looked back to see how close the officer was and then ran straight into a signpost and slowly sank into the ground.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and is going to be answering to a charge of assault in provincial court.
