Two local Royal Canadian Legion branches have received grants from the federal government
Peninsula Branch #62 and St. Martins Branch #63 gained funding through the New Horizons for Seniors Program.
The program provides funding for projects that “make a difference in the lives of seniors and in their communities,” according to the federal government’s website.
Peninsula Branch #62 received the maximum grant amount of $25,000.
It plans to use the money to replace windows and flooring in its building.
St. Martins Branch #63 received more than $22,000 through the program.
That money will be used to install new siding, insulation, windows, and doors.
