Marijuana could become a five billion dollar industry in just a few years and a Moncton-based medical marijuana producer wants a piece of that pie.
Organi-gram believes it could produce pot for the recreational market once the federal government legalizes the drug.
CEO Dennis Arsenault says Ottawa currently has three main concerns surrounding marijuana.
“Number one is make sure we keep it out of the hands of children, number two is maximize taxes and number three is to make sure the industry is healthy and provides economic development,” he notes.
Arsenault says the company has become more attractive to investors thanks to this week’s provincial funding of almost one million dollars in payroll rebates to create new jobs over the next three years.
