The Saint John High School girls field hockey team won the provincial final over the weekend 1-0 over Harbour View High in overtime.
The Houston Astros have become the first team in World Series history to have five different players homer in a game in their 10 inning, 13-12 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers and a 3 games to 2 lead. The two teams have also set the record for most home runs in a World Series with 22. Alex Bregman singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Radim Salda scored 1:25 into overtime to give the Saint John Sea Dogs a 5-4 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies to break a 9 game losing streak.
In the NHL, Blake Wheeler scored three of Winnipeg’s five goals in the first period and added an assist in the third as Winnipeg beat up on Pittsburgh 7-1……Calgary got by Washington 2-1 and Anaheim edged Carolina in a shootout 4-3.
In the NFL last night, JuJu Smith-Schuster scored on a 97 yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger late in the third quarter for the longest TD reception in Steeler history as Pittsburgh downed the Detroit Lions 20-15….Tom Brady passed for 333 yards and a touchdown and New England converted four field goals as the Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 21-13. The Patriots and Steelers have the best records in the A-F-C at 6 and 2. In the NFC, Philadelphia improved to 7 and 1 with a 33-10 win over San Francisco and Minnesota is at 6 and 2 after a 33-16 win over Cleveland. In other play, it was New Orleans 20 Chicago 12….Cincinnati 24 Indianapolis 23…..Atlanta 25 NY Jets 20….Carolina 17 Tampa Bay 3…..Buffalo 34 Oakland 14……Seattle 41 Houston 38 and Dallas 33 Washington 19.
