Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long believes the government will win in court when it comes to softwood lumber tariffs imposed by the U.S.
Long says the duties are unfair to New Brunswick and doesn’t like that our province was singled out.
Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador have been basically given an exemption and Long says it all surrounds a debate over private woodland and crown woodland.
He says the government has won every time they have taken this matter to court and he thinks they’ll win again.
Long says the federal and provincial government has done a great job of telling our story and he’s encouraged that Maine Governor Paul Lepage is going to bat for us on this issue.
