NB Police Association Want Meeting With NB Police Commission To Remove Executive Director

The New Brunswick Police Association is asking for a meeting with the New Brunswick Police Commission to remove the executive director, Steve Roberge, from his position.

This following an apology and retraction from the commission and Roberge over a statement Roberge made saying there was an ongoing investigation of the association’s executive, when it actually involves a former member of the association.

The association’s Bob Davidson says, “having made false statements to the public [Roberge] certainly cannot continue in a position of trust where he oversees and runs the Police Act and deals with disciplinary matters affecting police officers in this province.”

Davidson says they have asked for the meeting at the commission’s convenience and if they do not give them a meeting he tells us they have other legal and political avenues to pursue, “at this time we have our lawyer active with the matter and as you know the Minister of Public Safety is the Minister responsible for the operation of the New Brunswick Police Commission and we also have the legisatiure floor.”

We have reached out to the New Brunswick Police Commission for comment on this.
