Beverly Gail Deschenes

April 11, 1952  –  June 8, 2026

On Monday, June 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband of 40 years, her 5 sons, and 13 of her 16 grandchildren, Beverly Gail (Lomax) Deschenes went home to the arms of her Lord and Saviour at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Saint John on April 11, 1952, to the late Norman and Emily (Hanson) Lomax and was the loving wife to her husband, Maurice Deschenes.

Beverly graduated from Vocational School in 1970 with a specialty is Business Administration. She worked various careers over the years, but the main one was working side by side with her husband at the Fundy Haven Restaurant where he did the cooking and baking and was the owner, and she acted as Hostess and Server and helped anywhere else needed. Beverly was a very faithful person, devoting her life to the Lord and was a longtime member of Fundamental Baptist Church. She loved reading and taking walks, sunbathing and crocheting. But she loved being a mother more than those hobbies. However, once she became a grandmother, her heart grew bigger and the light in her eyes grew brighter and she couldn’t have been prouder of all of them. Her first 5 grandchildren were boys, whom she loved unconditionally, but then the next five were girls, and she was overjoyed to finally have some girls around to have sleepovers with and decorate the Christmas tree with. Beverly was a strong woman but so compassionate and loving. She welcomed anyone in as family, and for her, time spent together meant more than anything. Whether it was weekend trips with her sisters, or decorating together for the different seasons, especially Fall and Christmas, or going to church, Beverly relished the time spent. She was a wonderful woman who will be deeply missed by so many who had the privilege to know her.

Along with her husband, Maurice, she is survived by her five sons, Dennis (Victoria) and Daniel Seely, and Matthew (Christa), Timothy (Laura) and Benoit (Brittany) Deschenes; her 16 adored grandchildren with another one arriving in July; as well as her sisters, Julia “Judy” Benjamin, Katherine “Kay” (Philip) Brewer and Faith (Brent) Matthews; several nieces and nephews, cousins and so many friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Norman “Bo” Lomax.

Arrangements are entrusted to Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue (506-634-1701) where visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at her home church, Fundamental Baptist (1170 Sand Cove Road), on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11am, followed by interment in Little Lepreau Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations made in Beverly’s memory to the Windcrest Bible Camp would be greatly appreciated by her family. Those who are unable to attend the service are invited to watch it at the following link: http://fundamentalbaptistchurch.org/livestream
