It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Marie (Kelly) Gavin announces her passing which occurred at her home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Born in Tracadie, NB, on February 14, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Annie (Basque) Kelly.
Diane enjoyed diamond painting, puzzles, and crosswords, and loved visiting her brother, Eugene, and sister-in-law, Norma, at Crystal Beach. She also cherished bowling with her daughter, Maryanne, before her illness no longer allowed her to do so. In her younger years, she worked at Diane’s Restaurant and, more recently, retired from her position cleaning at City Hall.
Diane leaves behind her children, Maryanne Brideau, Doug Hatt (Nancy), Edward Brideau (Barb), Shawn Hatt; siblings, Kathy St. Coeur (Ovila), Eugene Kelly (Norma), Wilfred Kelly; grandchildren, Peter, Shawn, Shania, Jenessa; as well as several nieces, nephews, and her fur baby, Bella. In addition to her parents, Diane was predeceased by her husband, John Gavin; sister, Joanne Taylor; infant son, Patrick.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). A Funeral Service will be held from The Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 2:30 PM. Visitation will take place prior to the service, from 1:30 – 2:30 PM. Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Donations in memory of Diane may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association.
