Doreen Elizabeth Lingley passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Kennebec Manor surrounded by her family. Doreen was born on February 23, 1939 in Enniskillen, NB to the late James Edward and Edith (McDevitt) Shannon.
Doreen will be sadly missed by her children; Theresa MacDonald (Jack), Warren Lingley (Serena), and Dwayne Lingley (Jennifer), grandchildren; Jonas McCarthy, Daniel McCarthy, Alex Fortune, Melody Vail, Vanessa Vail, Iesha Chiasson and Tyra Holt, many great grandchildren brothers; George Shannon and Charlie Shannon, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Doreen is predeceased by her husband John Jerrold Douglas (Jerry), siblings, Mary, Leena, Pauline, Francis, William, Theresa, Greg, John, Patrick and Shirley, and grandson Brandon Vail.
Doreen was a dedicated homemaker and mother who found great joy in gardening and baking. Her family will fondly remember her incredible talent in the kitchen, especially her famous homemade rolls that were the size of small loaves of bread.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held Monday, December 22, 2025 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow immediately in Castle Fallsview Chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at a later date in Fernhill Cemetery.
The family wishes for those attending the services for Doreen to please wear red, it was her favorite color, and she would be pleased to see everyone wearing it. In lieu of flowers donations in Doreen’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
