Nancy Shirley Cairns passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20th, 2025 at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by her family after a lengthy and courageous battle with illness. Nancy was born on January 20, 1956 in Saint John, NB to the late Lee and Mairon (Clark) Miller.
Nancy will be dearly missed by her husband of 45 years, Gary Cairns, their son Donald Cairns (Amy), beloved granddaughter Rylee, sisters; Judy and Linda Miller; brother-in-law Steve Cairns (Debbie), sister-in-law Shelia Miller; nieces and nephews; Clark, Chris, Matthew, Tera, Nicole, Sarah, Ben, Abby, Sherri, Brian and Lindsay; several great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Nancy was predeceased by her brothers Paul and Mark Miller.
Nancy enjoyed spending time surrounded by her family and friends. She loved coloring and playing with her granddaughter Rylee who was light of her life and was also known to be the favourite aunt amongst the nieces and nephews; she was always happy to play with the kids. In her younger years Nancy enjoyed walking her dog Teddy around the westside and her shopping trips with friends. She also enjoyed relaxing and watching her favourite comfort shows with Gary; Hallmark Christmas movies, game shows and Law and Order.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 on Monday, December 29th, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Nancy’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
