With sorrow the family of Walter “Hoyt” Golding announces his passing on Sunday December 21st, 2025, at Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 2nd, 1936, to parents Eric and Freda (Hoyt) Golding, and will be missed by his wife Faye (Lyons).
Hoyt is survived by his wife; Faye, one son; Kevin (Rachelle) of Saint John, grand children; J R Bowland (Erin), Meghan Bowland (Nick), and Erin Bowland, step – daughter; Susan (Lance) Fitzgerald, of Saint John, and son -in – law; James Bowland.
He was predeceased by his Parents; Eric and Freda Golding, sister; Joye (Jim Sprague), his first wife Barbara Joan (Fry) Golding, and his daughter Shelley Lynn Bowland.
Hoyt was employed at NB Tel, later Bell-Aliant, for 36 years working in Saint John, Newcastle and St. Stephen, and retiring in 1991. He spent 58 years at Cambridge Narrows at the summer cottage, the place he loved most with family and friends, and was the unofficial “Mayor “of the Worden Road. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where he enjoyed playing the keyboard on Sunday mornings and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, The Loyalist City Amateur Radio Club, and the International Repeater Group. He held the amateur radio call of VE9WHG.He was also a former member of Simonds Lions Club.
