With heavy hearts, the family of Joyce Marion McLaughlin (nee Lake) announce her passing surrounded by loved ones on May 25, 2026 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Joyce was born on February 1, 1949 in Cambridge, Nova Scotia.
Joyce was the youngest born daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (nee Faulkner) Lake. She was employed at Sobeys Rothesay, NB and retired for the second time in July 2023. Joyce had multiple jobs at Sobeys and was always lending a helping hand wherever she was needed.
Joyce loved to hike the trails of Fundy National Park with her children and Grandchildren. She loved to bake, pickleling, and working in her gardens. Joyce enjoyed bowling with a great group of women and also would go to her secret sisters meetings for weigh in and fun times.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband, William “Billy” George McLaughlin. Her daughters, Kimberley A. Benson (Randy) of Saint John NB and Krista Lynn McLaughlin of Rothesay NB. Her siblings, Roland Lake (Betty) of Nauwigeauk, New Brunswick, Hilda Conrod (Lloyd) of Halifax County, Nova Scotia, Donald Lake (Patty) of Nauwigeauk, New Brunswick, and Percy Lake (Cindy) of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, and several several Nieces and Nephews as well as her Great Nieces and Nephews. Her 3 Grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Benson, Keith Allan Benson (Sidney), and Daphne Lee Steeves. Great Grandchildren, Aaliyah Benson, Anthony Benson, Amelia Benson, Elliot Benson, Charlie Grace Benson, and Myles Benson.
Joyce is also predeceased by siblings Joan Faulkner, Robert (Bobby) Lake, Elizabeth Lake; Brian and Patricia Lake, Annie Conrod, Ronald and Roy Lake, Frances Davidson and Grandson Anthony Allan Benson.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). Honoring Joyce’s wishes there will be no viewing or service. For those who wish to send remembrances to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
