It is with great sadness that the family of Marie “Mamie” (Cyr) Gray announces her passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, May 1, 2026. Born in Caraquet, NB, on April 5, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Judith (Boucher) Cyr.
Marie was the oldest of 14 children. She leaves behind her sons, James (Theresa), Stephen (Debbi), Brian; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Irene (Late Loyd) of Ontario, Max (Audrey) of Ontario, Benny (Judy) of Ontario; daughters-in-law, Verna Gray of the late George Gray, Twila of the late David Gray; sister-in-law, Janice of the late Brian; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband, Frederick; children, Judy, Wendy, John, Brenda, Robert; siblings, Annie (Late Shep), Anita (Robert), Justine, Wilfred (Late Laura), Louis (Late Louise), Paul, Alyre (Late Millie), Ivan (Late Ehtel), John, Brian.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff of Saint John Regional Hospital for their exceptional compassion and care. Also, a special thanks to Twila for her care.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). With visitation on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 2:00 – 8:00PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be held from the Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 9:30AM. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Reception will follow the interment at 28 McLaughlin Road, Saint John, NB. Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Saint John Food Bank, IWK, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
