Richard Paul Mabey

July 11, 1941  –  April 23, 2026

It is with great sadness the family announces the unexpected passing of Richard Paul Mabey on Thursday April 23, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on July 11, 1941, Richard was the son of the late Ray and Florence Eileen (Waters) Mabey, and beloved husband to Helen Joyce (Ward) Mabey.

Richard was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he was Treasurer for many years and served on various boards and committees. He also served as Secretary for the Board of Directors for Family Services and Treasurer for Camp Tulakadik.

Richard was employed with NBTel for 37 years and retired in 1998. During those years he worked at various jobs and in several locations within the province.

Richard is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters: Ruth (Stephen) Rideout of Hartland, NB, and Marianne (Randy) Losier of Moncton, NB; son: Stewart (Andrea Arbour) Mabey of Saint John, NB; two grandsons: Michael (Taylor) Losier of Ottawa, ON, and Jacob (Samantha Gordon) Losier of Moncton, NB; great grandson: Henley Losier of Ottawa, ON; sister: Joy Mabey, of L’Avenir, PQ; sisters – in – law: Lorna (Norman) Teed of Moncton, NB, Mary (Peter) Poplar of Riverview, NB, Glenna (Conrad) Steeves of Weldon, NB; and several nieces, and nephews.

Richard was predeceased by his parents: Ray and Eileen Mabey, and one sister-in-law and brother-in -law: Betty and Norman Ward.

The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, (506) 634-1701.

Visitation will take place at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 476 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB, on Tuesday May 5, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 476 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB, on Wednesday May 6, 2026, at 2:00PM. A reception will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church immediately following the service while the family, and any who wish to attend, will proceed to the Internment at Greenwood Cemetery; after which they will return to the reception.
