Ronald ‘Chummy’ Garfield Clifford

Ronald “Chummy” Garfield Clifford passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Carleton Kirk Lodge. Chum was born on November 6, 1946 in Saint John, NB to the late Harold and Phyllis (Melvin) Clifford.

Chum dedicated most of his career as a boilermaker at the Saint John Iron Works. He later enjoyed working for the Harbour Bridge Authority in Maintenance. Chum was a handy guy and could be found just about anywhere on the lower Westside but primarily at Tim’s on Ludlow Street.

Chum is survived by his children; Laurie (Mark Higgins), Andrew (Robyn), grandchildren; Brittany (Jordan), Adam (Emma), Meagan (Ian) and Caleb (Sara), great grandchildren; Jane, Arlo and Evelyn, sisters; Wanda McBriar and Bonnie Lee (Jimmy), sister-in-law’s; Polly Clifford, Elaine Clifford, Gloria Clifford, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents Chum was predeceased by his brothers; Bobby, Harold (Ditter), Neil and Colby, and brother-in-law Monty McBriar.

The family would like to thank the staff of Carleton Kirk for all their care and compassion given to Chum during his time there.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 8th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Chum’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
