November 3, 1973 – April 29, 2026
Shawn Crawford, 52, a beloved husband, friend, and baseball player passed away on April 29, 2026, with his beloved wife, Alexandra, by his side. Born on November 3, 1973, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Shawn’s life was a true testament to love, laughter, kindness and compassion.
Shawn, or “Crow”, as he was known to his friends and baseball teammates, was a man of athletic talent and kind heartedness.
Shawn’s love and knowledge for baseball was widely known to those around him and certainly to the baseball community. A crafty left-handed pitcher, a steady handed first baseman, and a solid bat. He played many years at the senior level with the Saint John Alpines and was a member of the 2001 team that were the victors in the 2001 Nationals. Shawn, along with this team, was inducted into the New Brunswick Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
When not on the diamond, Shawn enjoyed golf and the occasional game of poker with his close friends. He also was a skilled volleyball player and coach. Shawn was not just limited to sports. He enjoyed hiking; often looking to discover that hidden waterfall in his travels with his adoring wife, Alex. This was often followed up by a jeep drive for a frosty treat.
Shawn’s love for animals was unparalleled. Many a rescue kitty found a loving and happy home with Shawn. They brought him so much joy.
There was always a laugh, a story, or a ballgame with Crow. He was a diehard Yankee fan. And he had a shoulder big enough for the world to lean on. Selfless to the end, you always knew he would be there.
Shawn is survived by his loving wife, Alexandra (Ljungstrom) and her sons: Gregor, Davis, and Kiefer. He is predeceased by his Mother, Marlene and brother, Scott.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424).
