Sea Dogs President Explains Decision To Seek Public Office

The President of the Sea Dogs says his decision to seek the federal Liberal nomination in the riding of Saint John-Rothesay for next year’s election was made after a lot of thought.

Wayne Long tells CHSJ News Saint John has been falling behind other cities for far too long and that trend has to be reversed.

Long says it’s clear to him after talking to Saint Johnners that the big issue is getting more jobs. From a personal perspective, Long says he finds it disconcerting to hear his two sons and their friends all talking about moving out west.

Long has been President of the Sea Dogs since they came into the “Q” in 2005-2006 and before that, served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Scotiaview Seafood Incorporated which he founded in 2001.

He’s a graduate of the business administration program at U-N-B Saint John.
