The federal government is spending $335,000 to build ten fast charging stations for electric vehicles across New Brunswick.
Federal Minister Dominic LeBlanc announced the funding in partnership with NB Power who will be in charge of those stations.
The ten stations will be placed approximately every 65 kilometres along the Trans-Canada Highway from Edmunston to Aulac.
NB Power Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Planning Keith Cronkhite was asked when they will be installed.
“We will start putting some infrastructure in place in the May timeframe, our goal is by July to have vehicles charging at the various stations along the Trans-Canada corridor,” says Cronkhite.
The fast charging stations will charge a car to 80% in 30 minutes.
Prices are not set in stone but will likely be in the 10 to 12 dollars per hour range.
